Volkswagen 1.8T — 20V Turbo

The 1.8T is one of the most tuneable engines ever mass produced. Found in the Golf IV GTI, Jetta, Bora, and Passat, these engines regularly push 300kW and beyond with upgraded turbochargers, intake manifolds, and E85. The factory injectors become the bottleneck early in the modification path — particularly once boost levels rise or E85 is introduced.

A set of four Injector Dynamics ID1050x injectors supports approximately 320 to 440kW at the crank on petrol at 80% duty cycle. On E85, four ID1050x injectors cover up to approximately 220 to 320kW — handling the vast majority of big-turbo 1.8T builds. For extreme builds on E85 or methanol, the ID1300x and ID1750x are available.

Volkswagen EA888 Gen 3 — MQB Platform (Golf R / GTI)

The EA888 Gen 3 is the engine behind the MK7 and MK8 Golf R and GTI — two of the most popular performance cars on Australian roads. These engines respond aggressively to stage upgrades, IS38 and hybrid turbo swaps, and E85 conversions. The factory injectors become the limiting factor once power targets exceed the stock fuelling capacity.

A set of four ID1050x injectors provides ample flow for most EA888 Gen 3 builds on both petrol and E85 — comfortably supporting big-turbo builds well beyond 300kW at the wheels. The 34mm body length fits the MQB intake manifold directly with no modifications. For builds pushing the absolute limits of the EA888 platform on E85, the ID1300x provides additional headroom.

Volkswagen VR6 — 12V

The 2.8-litre 12-valve VR6 is a classic Volkswagen performance engine that remains popular for turbo conversions and engine swaps — particularly in lightweight MK2 and MK3 Golf chassis. Turbocharged VR6 builds produce serious power from the narrow-angle six-cylinder layout, and upgraded injectors are essential once boost is added.

A set of six ID1050x injectors on the VR6 supports approximately 480 to 660kW at the crank on petrol — far more than most turbocharged VR6 builds will ever need. On E85, six ID1050x injectors cover up to approximately 330 to 480kW. The ID1300x is available for extreme builds pushing beyond those numbers.
