Choosing the Right Part

Match the filter to your engine and chassis rather than to the car's model name alone:

Honda: genuine Honda OEM filters suit B-series and K-series engines, including the K20C1. The HKS filter lists the Civic Type R (FK8) and (FL5). Spoon Sports also offers a filter for Honda applications.
Mitsubishi: the genuine Mitsubishi OEM filter suits the 4G63-powered Lancer Evolution I–IX (CD9A/CE9A/CN9A/CP9A/CT9A). The K&N Premium Wrench-Off filter lists the Lancer 7/8/9.
Subaru: the HKS filter also lists the Subaru WRX and STI.
Thread size: check that the filter thread matches your engine's filter mount. For example, the HKS filter uses an M20x1.5 thread.
OEM or aftermarket: OEM filters match the factory part. Aftermarket filters from HKS, K&N and Spoon Sports are options from performance brands. The K&N filter has a wrench-off design.
