Diverter Valves
A diverter valve releases boost pressure when the throttle closes. Recirculating designs send that air back into the intake instead of venting it, so the factory airflow reading stays accurate and the engine stays close to factory noise levels. This range, part of our Intake and Forced Induction category, includes direct-fit replacement and upgraded diverter and bypass valves from GFB, APR, LEYO, COBB Tuning and GrimmSpeed. Many of them replace original plastic-diaphragm valves, which are a known weak point on many modern turbo engines once boost goes up.

The range covers several valve styles and the parts that go with them:
-
Recirculating diverter valves: direct-fit units such as the GFB DV+, APR R1 and LEYO kits. Some versions have an integrated solenoid that replaces the factory electronic valve.
-
Bypass valves: GrimmSpeed Version 2 and COBB Tuning units for Subaru WRX, STI, Forester XT and Liberty GT, the GFB SXV DV+ (a Bosch-style replacement) and the universal COBB LF BPV.
-
Vent-to-atmosphere and sound-adjustable valves: GFB VTA, VTA Atmosphere and DVX models for owners who want more audible venting.
-
Adaptors and small parts: items such as the COBB BOV Adapter for FMIC, plus O-rings, clamps, bolts and hoses.

Choosing the Right Part
Fitment is engine-specific, so match the engine code and chassis code rather than just the model year. Common identifiers in this range include:
-
VW, Audi and Skoda: EA113 and EA888 engines in the Audi A3/S3 (8P/8V), VW Golf GTI (Mk5 to Mk7.5) and Skoda Octavia. There are separate valves for the 1.4 TSI twin-charged engine and for the Audi B9 and C8 models and Golf R (Mk8). On VAG cars, also check which valve revision is fitted now, because several part numbers were used across the same model years.
-
BMW and MINI: N13, N20 and N55 engines, plus the MINI N14/N18 (Prince 1.6T, shared with Peugeot and Citroen) and R55 to R61 Cooper S models.
-
Subaru: WRX and STI chassis codes such as GDA/GGA, GDB/GRF/GVF/VAB, GE/GH/GR/GV and VB, plus the Forester XT (SH) and Liberty GT (BL/BP).
-
Ford: Focus ST and RS, Fiesta ST (Mk8), Ranger (P375) 2.3L EcoBoost, Ranger Raptor (P703), Mustang EcoBoost (S550) and XR6T.
-
Others: Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat, Holden Commodore (ZB), Toyota C-HR and Lexus 200t models, Mercedes-AMG, Hyundai Veloster Turbo and Kia Cerato Koup Turbo, Nissan Juke and Renault Sport models, Peugeot 308 GTi and Volvo.
Next, choose the valve style. A piston-style valve has no rubber diaphragm to split, which is why it usually outlasts the original part on high-mileage or tuned engines. A stiffer spring helps the valve stay shut at higher boost. Pick a recirculating valve if you want factory-like behaviour, or a VTA or sound-adjustable model if you want more noise. Some kits replace only the internals, while others replace the whole valve assembly, so check the listing details.
Installation & What You'll Need
Most valves mount to the turbo or charge pipe with a few bolts and are reached from the top of the engine bay. Some installations need the intake pipe or coolant lines removed first. Use new O-rings rather than reusing the old ones. Torque the bolts to specification, because the housings are often alloy. A like-for-like replacement does not need a tune change. Installation by a professional is recommended.
FAQ
What is the difference between a diverter valve and a blow off valve?
A diverter valve sends the released air back into the intake. A blow off valve vents it to atmosphere, which is louder and can upset factory airflow metering on some cars.
Will a diverter valve upgrade make my car louder?
Recirculating designs stay close to factory noise levels, though you may hear a little more intake flutter if an aftermarket intake is fitted. VTA and sound-adjustable models are designed to be more audible.
Do I need a tune after replacing my diverter valve?
Not for a direct replacement. If you are also raising boost, have your tuner sort out the tune.
How do I know which valve suits my car?
Match the engine code and, where possible, the current factory part number. Send us your build details and we will point you to the right listing.
