Coilover springs are an affordable way to change how a coilover-equipped car rides and handles without replacing the whole kit. This collection covers replacement springs for tired or damaged ones, plus alternative rates for owners chasing less body roll and sharper response. It sits within our Suspension range and features MOTON racing springs across a wide spread of lengths and inner diameters.
Shop by Product Type
Coilover springs suit the coilover kit, not the car. Fitment comes down to spring dimensions rather than make and model. The MOTON range in this collection includes:
MOTON Linear Racing Springs, 61mm ID: 65, 80, 100, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 200, 220, 250 and 300 Series.
MOTON Racing Springs, 51mm ID: 200 and 250 Series.
MOTON flat wire springs: 65, 70, 80 and 100 Series.
Check three things before ordering: inner diameter, free length and rate.
Inner diameter: The spring has to sit flat on your kit's lower perch and upper seat. The springs here come in 61mm and 51mm ID, so measure your existing springs or check your kit specifications.
Free length: A shorter spring leaves less preload available and less droop travel at a given ride height. Very low setups often need a helper spring to stop the main spring going loose at full extension.
Rate: Rates are quoted in kg/mm or lbs/in. One kg/mm is about 56 lbs/in.
Kit springs are chosen to suit a broad spread of buyers. That usually means a rate that is soft for track work and firm for a rough back road. A purpose-chosen rate can sharpen turn-in, control roll and keep the car off the bump stops at your chosen ride height. Rate also changes how the damper behaves through its stroke, so a big jump up can outrun the valving. Modest steps, with front and rear rates kept in balance, usually give a better result than the stiffest option available.
Installation & What You'll Need
Changing coilover springs needs spring compressors and correct handling of stored spring energy. Installation by a professional is recommended. After fitting, preload and corner heights need to be reset. A full wheel alignment is also needed once the springs have settled, because changes to rate and ride height move camber and toe.
FAQ
Will these springs fit my coilover kit?
Only if the inner diameter and free length suit your kit. Check your kit specifications, or send us your coilover brand and model and we will help confirm.
How much stiffer should I go?
One step up is usually plenty for a street car that sees occasional track use. Large rate increases suit cars with matched damper valving and more aggressive alignment.
Can I run different front and rear rates?
Yes, most kits already do. Front and rear rates are chosen to balance the car, so changing only one end will shift how it turns.
Do I need an alignment afterwards?
Yes. Any change in rate or ride height moves camber and toe, so book an alignment once the springs are fitted and settled.
