Mazda RX-7 — 13B Rotary (FC / FD)

The 13B rotary engine is one of the most demanding platforms for fuel injectors. Rotary engines consume significantly more fuel per unit of power than piston engines due to their combustion characteristics, and the twin-rotor 13B's appetite for fuel increases dramatically with boost and bridge porting. Accurate injector characterisation is especially important on rotary engines because the non-traditional combustion cycle amplifies any errors in dead time compensation — resulting in poor idle, inconsistent fuelling, and the lean conditions that rotary engines are notoriously intolerant of.

The Injector Dynamics ID1050x is the entry point for most turbocharged 13B builds on petrol. For the FD RX-7's twin-turbo 13B-REW, a set of four primary injectors (the FD uses a staged injection system with primary and secondary injectors) provides ample flow for street and moderate track builds. On E85, fuel demand jumps 30 to 40%, so sizing needs to account for the rotary's already-high BSFC combined with the ethanol fuel correction.

For high-boost single-turbo FD builds, bridgeport engines, and dedicated drag or time attack cars, the ID1300x, ID1750x, and ID2600x are available — the ID2600x is commonly used in extreme rotary builds running methanol at very high fuel pressures.

Injector Dynamics offers fitments for every generation of RX-7 — select your specific variant when ordering. Fitments are available in both 11mm and 14mm O-ring lower configurations to suit the different fuel rail and intake manifold combinations across the FC and FD platforms.

Mazda RX-8 — 13B-MSP Renesis (2003-2011)

The naturally aspirated Renesis engine in the RX-8 uses a staged injection system, and Injector Dynamics offers fitment for the secondary injectors. For RX-8 owners running forced induction conversions or bridge-ported builds, upgrading the secondaries to ID1050x or larger injectors provides the additional fuel capacity needed to support meaningful power increases. Select the "RX-8 03-11 (Secondaries Only)" variant when ordering.

Mazda MX-5 / Miata (NA / NB / NC)

The MX-5 is one of the most popular platforms in Australia for grassroots motorsport — from club sprints and hillclimbs to time attack and endurance racing. While the factory naturally aspirated engines rarely need injector upgrades, turbocharged and supercharged MX-5 builds quickly outgrow the factory injectors — particularly on E85.

A set of four ID1050x injectors supports approximately 320 to 440kW at the crank on petrol — far more than most MX-5 turbo builds will ever need, which means the injectors operate at low duty cycles with excellent idle quality and drivability. On E85, the ID1050x comfortably covers up to approximately 220 to 320kW at the crank — more than enough for any realistic forced induction MX-5 build.
