Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors for Subaru

Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors for Subaru

We fit Injector Dynamics into EJ20, EJ25 and FA20-powered WRX, STI and BRZ builds all the time, from Sydney street cars through to cars we've seen through tech at The Bend. The pattern is always the same: the factory injectors run out of headroom well before the rest of the fuel system does, especially once E85 or a bolt-on turbo upgrade enters the picture. Every injector we sell is something we'd genuinely run in our own car, not a parts-bin filler line.

Why Injector Dynamics

The ID1050x is our default recommendation for most EJ and FA-powered Subarus. It covers the bulk of bolt-on and lightly built turbo setups on 98 RON, and handles moderate boost E85 builds without pushing duty cycle into unsafe territory. For bigger builds, the ID1300x, ID1750x and ID2600x step up the flow for high-boost E85, methanol, or dedicated time attack combinations.

The naturally aspirated FA20 in the BRZ is a different animal to the turbocharged EJ. Most BRZ builds we see running Injector Dynamics have already added a turbo or supercharger kit, since the factory FA20 injectors have next to no spare capacity once forced induction is on the table. We size these jobs around the specific kit and fuel choice rather than a generic recommendation, so talk to us about your combination before ordering.

What sold us on Injector Dynamics over cheaper alternatives is the characterisation data. Every set comes with data your tuner can load straight into Haltech, Link, MoTeC or a factory ECU reflash, so the car fuels correctly from the first start-up instead of a week of trial and error on the dyno.

Fitment & Installation

Check your fuel rail and injector clip compatibility before you order. Some EJ and FA applications need adapter tops or a different injector length depending on the rail you're running, factory or aftermarket.

Return and returnless fuel systems behave differently under load. If your car is still on the factory returnless setup, talk to us about whether it can support the injector size you're after, or whether a return-style fuel system upgrade needs to happen alongside it.

Injector clocking (the angle of the spray pattern relative to the intake port) matters on some manifolds. Get this wrong and you can end up with fuel wetting the port wall instead of atomising properly.

A retune is required any time you go up in injector size. Don't start the car and drive it on the old map. Book in with your tuner before the injectors go in, not after.

FAQ

Will Injector Dynamics injectors fit my factory fuel rail?
Most EJ and FA applications work with the factory rail, but some sizes need an adapter top or a rail swap. Check the specific fitment notes on the product page or ask us before you buy.

Do I need to change my ECU to run these?
No, but you do need a tuner who can load the new injector data and adjust the fuel map. Haltech, Link, MoTeC and factory reflash platforms all handle this fine.

Do I need a retune after fitting bigger injectors?
Yes, every time. Injector size changes fuelling across the whole map, so the car needs to go back on the dyno before you drive it hard.

What size do I need for my power target?
It depends on your turbo, fuel type and boost level. Talk to us with your power target and fuel choice and we'll point you to the right set.

Does the BRZ need different injectors to the WRX or STI?
Yes. The FA20 in the BRZ is naturally aspirated from factory, so sizing is based on whatever turbo or supercharger kit is fitted, not a straight swap from an EJ combination. Tell us your kit and we'll match the injector to it.

Do these come with a warranty?
Yes, Injector Dynamics injectors carry manufacturer warranty when fitted and tuned correctly. Keep your tune log in case you need to make a claim.

Talk to us before you buy if you're not sure what your power target needs.
