Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors for Subaru

Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors for Subaru

The Subaru EJ and FA engine families are among the most commonly upgraded platforms in Australia — and fuel injectors are one of the first components to hit their limit when boost, E85, or significant power increases are on the table. Whether you are building an EJ25 STI for time attack, converting a VA WRX to flex fuel on the FA20, or putting together a GC8 for club sprints, Injector Dynamics offers the most precisely characterised, dynamically matched fuel injectors available for every generation of Subaru performance engine.

Subaru WRX and STI — EJ20 / EJ25 (2001-2021)

The EJ-powered WRX and STI are the backbone of the Australian Subaru tuning scene. From the GD bugeye through to the VA-generation STI, these engines respond dramatically to injector and fuel system upgrades — particularly when running E85 or targeting power levels above 200kW at the wheels.

The Injector Dynamics ID1050x is the go-to choice for most EJ-powered WRX and STI builds on petrol. A set of four ID1050x injectors comfortably supports up to approximately 350 to 440kW at the crank at 80% duty cycle on 98 RON — covering the vast majority of bolt-on and moderately built turbo setups. For E85 builds, the ID1050x supports up to approximately 220 to 320kW at the crank, making it the right choice for most flex fuel street and track cars running moderate boost.

For higher-power EJ builds pushing beyond 350kW on E85 — common in dedicated time attack and drag builds — the ID1300x provides the additional flow headroom needed to maintain safe duty cycles. The ID1300x was specifically designed for alternative fuels with all stainless steel internals for extended E85 service life. For extreme builds on methanol or very high boost E85, the ID1750x and ID2600x are available.

All ID injectors for the EJ platform are available in the correct body length, O-ring configuration, and connector type for direct plug-and-play fitment. Select the "WRX (01-14) / STi (02-21)" variant when ordering.

For the best results, pair your ID injectors with a Radium Engineering top feed fuel rail — the factory EJ fuel rail is restrictive at high flow rates, and Radium's 17.5mm bore billet rail provides the volume these injectors need to perform at their rated capacity. Complete the system with a Radium return-style plumbing kit and fuel pump hanger for a fully integrated fuel system upgrade.

Subaru WRX / STI — GC8 V3-V6

The classic GC8 WRX and STI remain hugely popular in Australian motorsport — from club sprints to hillclimbs and tarmac rally. The EJ20 in these cars responds well to injector upgrades, particularly when running aftermarket ECU management (Haltech, Link, MoTeC) and E85.

Injector Dynamics offers direct-fit injectors for the GC8 V3 to V6 platform with the correct connector and O-ring specification for plug-and-play installation. Select the "WRX / STI (GC8) V3 - V6" variant when ordering. The same sizing guide applies — ID1050x for most builds, ID1300x for high-boost E85 applications.

Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86 / GR86 (2013+)

The FA20 and FA24 engines in the BRZ and 86 platform are increasingly popular for forced induction builds. When adding a turbo or supercharger to these naturally aspirated engines, the factory injectors quickly become the bottleneck — especially on E85 where fuel demand increases by 30 to 40% compared to petrol.

The ID1050x is the most popular choice for turbocharged BRZ and 86 builds making up to approximately 300kW at the crank on petrol. For forced induction E85 builds, the ID1050x covers up to approximately 220kW — beyond that, step up to the ID1300x. Select the "BRZ (2013+)" variant when ordering for the correct fitment specification.

Why Injector Dynamics for Subaru?

Every set of Injector Dynamics injectors ships with complete characterisation data — including dynamic slope flow rates, dead time values across voltage and pressure ranges, and dynamic flow matching at multiple pulse widths. This data is compatible with all major ECU platforms used in the Subaru community including Haltech, Link, MoTeC, COBB Accessport, and ECUFlash/RomRaider for factory ECU reflashing. Your tuner loads the data directly into the ECU for accurate fuelling from the first start-up — no guesswork, no hours of dyno time chasing idle quality or cold start issues.

All ID injectors are fully compatible with petrol, E85, E100, and methanol. The corrosion-resistant stainless steel internals are designed for extended service with aggressive fuels — unlike many aftermarket injectors that develop deposits, sticky valves, or flow degradation after prolonged ethanol exposure.

Read our fuel injector sizing guide for a detailed breakdown of how to calculate the right injector size for your power target on petrol and E85, or our injector characterisation data guide to understand why ID's data makes a measurable difference to tuning quality and driveability.
