About Tomei Powered Japan

TOMEI POWERED INC. (株式会社東名パワード) was founded on 19 June 1968 in Kawasaki by Seiichi Suzuki, a former Nissan works driver, together with his "Johoku Riders" racing team. Originally called TOMEI Motor Inc., the company was Japan's first dedicated Nissan racing constructor — and from day one the philosophy was simple: understand the engine completely, improve what's good, fix what isn't, then prove it on track.

The company was renamed TOMEI Powered Incorporated in 1994 when it moved to its current Machida, Tokyo headquarters. The EXPREME exhaust product line launched in 2003 and the ARMS turbo kit range in 2002. In 2021 Tomei joined the GLION Group, and in 2023 the company celebrated its 55th anniversary. Today Tomei Powered operates out of 5-4-27 Tsuruma, Machida-City, Tokyo with a 25-person team led by Chairman Hidetake Kikuchi and President Takao Satoi.

Tomei's racing history is the foundation of every product. The company has competed in or supported All Japan F2 (1978+), All Japan F3 (1989+, with the Nissan CA18DE engine developed in-house for Nismo), Mugen F3000 engine maintenance, D1GP, drag racing (setting a Japan record of 9.167 seconds with an R32 GT-R in 1998), and Formula Drift Japan (2015+ with a 2JZ36KIT-equipped JZX100). This real-world motorsport development is what separates Tomei Japan's titanium exhaust and manifold range from the rest of the aftermarket.

Tomei Japan vs Tomei USA — Why It Matters

There are two companies selling products under the "Tomei" name worldwide, and they're not the same business.

TOMEI POWERED INC. (Japan) is the original, founded in 1968. Machida, Tokyo. This is who makes the EXPREME Ti titanium exhausts, the full-cast RB26 manifold, the ARMS turbo kits, the Poncam and Procam camshafts. Everything Chicane Australia sells.

TOMEI POWERED USA INC. was originally Tomei Japan's North American subsidiary, established in 2006. In 2014 it was split off as a separate company, and on 28 February 2019 the licensing contract between the two companies expired. Since March 2019, Tomei USA sells its own independently-developed products — Tomei Japan has publicly disclaimed all responsibility for them and has a dedicated notice on their website asking customers to stop contacting them about Tomei USA items. Tomei USA part numbers starting with "T" are a quick way to identify them.

Some Australian retailers stock Tomei USA products without making the distinction clear. At Chicane Australia we only sell Tomei Japan — every SKU in our catalogue is a numeric Tomei Japan part number, sourced through Japanese distribution.

The Four Tomei Japan Titanium Sub-Brands

Tomei's titanium muffler range is split into four distinct sub-brands. Each one targets a different buyer and a different car.

EXPREME Ti — The Core Titanium Muffler Range

EXPREME Ti is Tomei's entry-point titanium line and the most widely-stocked sub-brand globally. Full titanium construction with 80mm piping, single-exit layout, oversized silencer shell, clamp-band connections in place of traditional flanges for reduced weight. The signature burnt-blue gradient finish with embossed Tomei logo. Covers the core Japanese performance platforms — Subaru WRX and STI (GDB, GRB, GVB, VAB), Subaru Levorg, Mitsubishi Evo VII-IX and X, Nissan Silvia S13/S14, 180SX, and the 86/BRZ TYPE-80.

Ti RACING — The Race-Spec Titanium Line

Ti RACING is Tomei's race-bred titanium muffler for modern performance chassis. Straighter pipe layouts than EXPREME Ti, larger exit diameters on newer chassis, developed specifically for track use and modern rear valance aesthetics. Fitment for Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32, BCNR33, BNR34), 350Z (Z33), 370Z (Z34), RZ34 400Z, R35 GT-R, and 86/BRZ/GR86. The Ti Racing front pipe (RB26 GT-R) and mid Y-pipe (Z33/Z34) complete the range.

Ti SPORTS — The Street-Friendly JASMA Line

Ti SPORTS is Tomei's JASMA-certified street titanium line. Optimised high-flow internal structure paired with a balanced oval sub-muffler specific to each chassis, delivering titanium weight savings with a more refined tone than the race-spec ranges. Available for the Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32, BCNR33, BNR34) and the 2022+ GR86 (ZN8) / BRZ (ZD8).

EXTRACK Ti — Titanium for 4WD & SUV

Tomei's newest titanium sub-brand, developed specifically for 4WD and SUV applications. Same Machida-built titanium construction, packaged for the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 (GDJ250W). A genuine race-derived exhaust for the 4WD market that hasn't had proper Japanese titanium options before.

Tomei Manifolds & Turbo Outlet Pipes

Tomei's stainless and full-cast exhaust hardware is as respected as the muffler line.

EXPREME stainless exhaust manifolds — available for the Subaru WRX and STI (Equal-Length, Unequal-Length and Twin Scroll variants fitting GC8, GDB, GRB, GVB and VAB), Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ (Equal-Length and Unequal-Length for ZN6/ZC6), Nissan 350Z (Z33 Ver.2), and Mitsubishi Evo IV-IX.

Full-Cast manifolds & outlet pipes — the Full-Cast RB26 manifold set for BNR32/BCNR33/BNR34 is a motorsport benchmark, cast stainless for thermal stability and built for high-boost turbo setups. Tomei also produces cast turbo outlet pipes for RB26, RB25DET/RB20DET, and SR20DET (with and without EAI).

Titanium cat straight pipes — full titanium straight-through decat replacements for 86/BRZ/GR86 and Evo VII-IX / Evo X. Race use only.

Road Legality & ADR Compliance

Ti RACING and EXPREME Ti mufflers are race-derived and are not guaranteed to meet Australian noise regulations in every state. Ti SPORTS is the JASMA-certified street-friendly option and is generally the most liveable for road registration. Noise limits vary by state (NSW, VIC, QLD, WA) and by vehicle age. If ADR compliance or state noise-testing is a priority for your build, reach out before ordering and we'll recommend the best fit. Titanium cat straight pipes are race use only.
