Mufflers are strictly chassis-specific, including JDM versus USDM body variants; manifolds cross-fit multiple generations. Australian-delivered WRX and STI models are generally JDM-spec through the GDB era, but grey-import USDM examples exist locally, so confirm the exact Tomei part before ordering.

Installation by a qualified professional workshop is recommended for all Tomei exhaust components. EXPREME Ti mufflers use clamp-band connections rather than traditional flanges, and EXPREME manifolds are direct bolt-on replacements for the factory manifold, so a hoist, fresh gaskets and hardware, and correct torque procedures should be part of the job.

Before ordering, confirm your chassis code and whether your car has a JDM or USDM body, because the rear bumper valance cutout and muffler hanger geometry differ between them — a JDM muffler will not bolt cleanly into a USDM body, and vice versa. If you are unsure, send us the chassis code and photos of the rear bumper and we can help work it out.

Road legality: EXPREME Ti race-spec mufflers are developed for track use and are not guaranteed to meet Australian noise regulations in every state. NSW, VIC, QLD and WA each apply different dB limits and vehicle-age rules, so contact us first if state noise testing or ADR compliance matters for your build.

Is this Tomei Japan or Tomei USA?

Tomei Japan only. Tomei Powered Inc. was founded in 1968 in Machida, Tokyo. Tomei USA began as its North American subsidiary in 2006, split off in 2014 and has been fully independent since February 2019, and Tomei Japan has stated that Tomei USA products are not designed, supervised, tested, manufactured or quality-checked by them. Tomei USA part numbers typically start with "T"; every Subaru part here carries a numeric Tomei Japan SKU.

Does one EXPREME Ti muffler fit every WRX and STI?

No. Mufflers are chassis-specific and also split between JDM and USDM bodies for the GDB, GRF and GVF. The VAB STI, VAG WRX S4 and SJG Forester XT share one part (SKU 440022).

Which manifold should I choose?

Equal-length (193105) for smoother top-end delivery without the Subaru burble, unequal-length (193082) to keep the classic note, and twin-scroll (414001) for twin-scroll turbo builds on GDB, GRB, GVB and VAB.

Is there a Tomei titanium muffler for the GC8 Impreza?

No. The GC8 is covered by the EXPREME equal-length and unequal-length manifolds only.
