Wastegates for precise turbo boost control
Wastegates decide how much exhaust gas bypasses the turbine, so they set your boost ceiling and how stable it stays. This range covers external wastegates, internal wastegate actuators and replacement springs for street turbo cars through to dedicated race builds. We stock hardware from brands with a proven record in high-heat, high-pressure use, because a leaking or undersprung wastegate shows up as boost creep, spiking or a tune that never settles.

Wastegate choice follows the turbo, not just the car, but the platforms customers most often buy for include:
- Subaru WRX and STI (EJ and FA turbo builds)
- Nissan Skyline RB and Silvia SR20 setups
- Toyota Supra 2JZ-GTE
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4G63
- Mazda RX-7 13B turbo builds
- Modern factory-turbo Ford, VW and BMW models running upgraded actuators
If you know your turbine housing and flange, we can point you to the right option.

- External wastegates for divorced or manifold-mounted setups
- Internal wastegate actuators for factory and bolt-on turbos
- Replacement wastegate springs to change the base boost pressure

Why these wastegates
An external wastegate gives better boost control on higher-power builds because it flows more exhaust away from the turbine, which helps stop boost creep once the turbo is working hard. Internal actuators are simpler and cheaper, and a stiffer or better-built actuator is often all a stock-turbo car needs to hold target boost without the diaphragm flexing open.
The spring rate sets base boost. Everything above that comes from the boost controller and tune, so the usual approach is to pick a spring close to your lowest intended boost level, then manage the rest electronically. We carry the brands we do because their diaphragms, seats and springs survive Australian summer heat cycles and repeated track sessions.
Fitment & Installation
Check three things before ordering: the flange pattern on your manifold or housing, the valve size suited to your power target, and the spring pressure. External wastegates usually need a matching weld-on flange and a recirculation or dump pipe. Internal actuators need the correct rod length and bracket, and the rod is normally preloaded during install.
Most installers set base boost mechanically first, then verify with a gauge before touching the tune. Atmospheric-vented external wastegates (screamer pipes) are for race and motorsport use only and are not suitable for registered road cars. Plan on new gaskets, exhaust hardware and a boost reference line at the same time.

FAQ
Do I need an external wastegate or just a better actuator?
If your car holds target boost and only needs a small increase, an internal actuator with a stiffer spring is usually enough. Larger turbos and high-boost builds tend to need an external wastegate to avoid boost creep.
What spring pressure should I choose?
Pick a spring close to the lowest boost you want to run. A boost controller and tune handle anything higher.
Will a wastegate change on its own add power?
Only indirectly. It gives cleaner, more stable boost control, and the power comes from the tune that uses it.
Do you ship Australia-wide?
Yes, we ship to all states and territories, including regional addresses.
Are these covered by warranty?
All items carry the manufacturer's warranty. Race-use failures and incorrect installation are generally excluded.
