aFe intakes for Toyota GR Supra (A90) / BMW Z4 M40i (G29) — B58
aFe POWER Cold Air Intake Range for GR Supra (A90) & BMW Z4 M40i (G29)
We've fitted aFe POWER intake systems to plenty of B58-powered Supras and Z4s coming through the workshop, from daily-driven Sydney cars to weekend trackday regulars heading to The Bend. The B58 responds well to a proper induction upgrade, and aFe's Takeda and Track Series ranges cover most budgets and goals.
The lineup here includes the Takeda Momentum Cold Air Intake, the Takeda Stage-2 Cold Air Intake, and the Track Series Carbon Fibre Cold Air Intake for the A90/G29 3.0L B58. These cover the A90 Supra from launch (2019 onwards) and the G29 Z4 M40i from launch (2019 onwards), both sharing the same B58 engine and factory airbox layout, so there's no mid-cycle running change to worry about on either platform. All three use a cotton or dry-media filter (aFe's Pro Dry S filter, reusable and oil-free) paired with a larger diameter tube for smoother airflow and a sharper intake note under load. The Track Series steps things up with full carbon construction for the enthusiast wanting the lightest, most track-focused setup.
On a stock Z4 M40i we've had through the shop, swapping the factory airbox for the Takeda Stage-2 dropped the induction snarl noticeably under throttle, loud enough that a couple of customers have asked us to wind it back with the Momentum's enclosed airbox instead. If you want the flow gain without the extra noise, that's the one to pick over Stage-2.
Chasing a cleaner throttle response for spirited backroad driving or building toward a proper tune, there's an option here that fits.

Why aFe POWER for the B58
The B58 is already a strong unit from the factory, but the stock airbox is restrictive and gets noisy under load. aFe's Takeda intakes free up flow without upsetting the factory MAF reading, which matters if you want to stay tune-friendly. The Track Series carbon option is the pick if you want maximum flow and a lighter overall package for genuine track use. We recommend the Takeda Stage-2 as the sensible daily upgrade and the Momentum or Track Series for owners chasing bigger gains alongside a tune.
Fitment & Installation
These intakes are designed specifically for the A90 Supra and G29 Z4 M40i sharing the 3.0L B58 engine, and cover both platforms with the same part where noted. Both cars have run largely unchanged induction layouts since their 2019 launch, so fitment isn't a build-date lottery like it can be on other platforms, but check with us if you've got a very late-build car before ordering. Installation is a straightforward bolt-on for most home mechanics with basic hand tools, roughly an hour's job. No tuning is mandatory to run any of these, though gains are more noticeable when paired with a tune. Double check your Supra or Z4's engine bay clearance around the factory airbox before ordering if you've already got other induction-side mods fitted.

FAQ
Does this intake fit both the Supra and Z4?
Yes, the A90 Supra and G29 Z4 M40i share the same 3.0L B58 engine, so the relevant aFe part fits both. Get in touch if you're unsure of your build date.
Do I need a tune to run this?
No. You'll get a cleaner induction note and marginal gains stock, but bigger gains come with a tune.
What's the difference between Stage-2, Momentum and Track Series?
Stage-2 uses a Pro Dry S conical filter on a larger diameter tube for a straightforward flow upgrade. Momentum steps up to a larger, higher-flowing filter element housed in its own enclosed airbox, which helps keep intake air cooler and quieter under bonnet heat soak than the open-element Stage-2. Track Series goes further again with full carbon fibre construction and its own heat-shielded housing, aimed at owners chasing the lightest, most track-focused setup.
