Why CUSCO
CUSCO develops parts around its "Total Car Tuning" philosophy, the idea that drivetrain, chassis and suspension need to work as one system, with much of the development coming from rally and circuit competition.
The Type-RS LSD uses coil springs for initial torque, giving smoother, more progressive engagement suited to street driving and circuit work. The Type-MZ uses cone springs for higher initial torque and sharper, more aggressive lockup, better suited to drift and rally applications.
Choosing the Right Part
Safety 21 cage options vary by chassis: some platforms take a bolt-in 4-point street cage, while genuine competition use generally requires a weld-in FIA-compliant cage. Door bar clearance, harness bar height and dash clearance vary between sedan and hatch variants, so confirm the cage suits your body style. If you're unsure which LSD cam angle or spring setup suits your driving, get in touch before ordering.
Installation & What You'll Need
Installation by a professional is recommended. Strut braces and power braces are generally bolt-in for their listed platforms, but LSD installation is a gearbox job and should go to a workshop experienced with differential setup, including backlash and preload. Use fresh gear oil of the grade CUSCO specifies for the LSD.

What is the difference between CUSCO Type-RS and Type-MZ LSDs?
The Type-RS uses coil springs for initial pressure, giving lower initial torque and smoother engagement suited to street and circuit use. The Type-MZ uses cone springs for higher initial torque and sharper engagement, often preferred for drift or rally.
What do CUSCO sway bars change?
A stiffer sway bar reduces body roll, keeping the car flatter through corners, which helps tyre contact and stability.
Does my car need a 4-point cage or a full FIA cage?
It depends on use. A bolt-in 4-point Safety 21 cage suits street and club-level track days. Competition rally or circuit racing generally requires a weld-in FIA-compliant cage. Check your category regulations before ordering.
Will a CUSCO LSD suit my car for street driving?
The Type-RS is the more common choice for street and dual-purpose cars because of its smoother engagement. The Type-MZ's sharper lockup is more noticeable at low speed and better suited to dedicated track, drift or rally cars.
