Chassis codes and model years

• ZN6 / ZC6 (2013–2021): Toyota 86 (ZN6) and Subaru BRZ (ZC6) with the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre FA20 flat-four, 147kW.
• ZN8 / ZD8 (2022+): Toyota GR86 (ZN8) and Subaru BRZ (ZD8) with the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre FA24 flat-four, 174kW.
• One fitment, four designations: the same AWE catback configuration covers 2013–2024 BRZ (ZC6 and ZD8), 2017–2020 Toyota 86 (ZN6) and 2022+ Toyota GR86 (ZN8). Confirm your model year when ordering.
• Gearbox: both the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic are covered by the same fitment — transmission choice does not affect exhaust mounting on this platform.

Touring or Track

Touring Edition suits daily-driven and commuted cars where highway drone matters; 180 Technology is a tuned reflection-chamber design rather than packed material, so the internals do not break down or change tone over time. Track Edition suits weekend and track-focused cars where maximum volume is the goal. If you are undecided, the Conversion Kits allow the configuration to be changed later.

Tip finish

Both configurations ship with 5" double-walled slash-cut tips in Diamond Black or Chrome Silver. Diamond Black is the more aggressive look and hides road grime well; Chrome Silver matches the factory tip aesthetic on most BRZ/86 trims. The tips are individually adjustable for depth into the bumper. Double-walled construction helps prevent bluing from heat.

Sizing and construction

CNC mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with .065" wall thickness and TIG-welded joints, 3" mid-pipe into 2.5" rear sections. AWE backs every system with their lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and all AWE product sold by Chicane Australia is supplied through AWE's authorised distribution channel with verifiable AWE serial identification.

These are catback systems, fitting from the catalytic converter rearward and retaining the factory catalytic converter. No ECU tune is required on either the FA20 or FA24 engines.

• Installation by a professional exhaust workshop or qualified mechanic is recommended. A hoist, appropriate safety equipment and the correct tools are required.
• Conversion Kits replace the existing rear sections only and are a direct bolt-on to the matching AWE system.
• Tip depth can be adjusted individually once the system is mounted, so allow time to set the protrusion to suit your bumper.
• Track Edition is significantly louder than factory and may exceed some state noise regulations under enthusiastic driving; Touring Edition is the more conservative choice if noise compliance is a concern. Check the requirements that apply in your state.

Does the same AWE catback fit both BRZ/86 generations?

Yes. AWE engineered a single catback fitment that covers 2013–2024 Subaru BRZ (ZC6 and ZD8), 2017–2020 Toyota 86 (ZN6) and 2022+ Toyota GR86 (ZN8), across both the FA20 and FA24 engines.

What is the difference between Touring Edition and Track Edition?

Touring Edition uses 180 Technology rear resonators to cancel drone-prone frequencies, giving a deep BOXER rumble that stays comfortable on the highway. Track Edition deletes those resonators for a substantially louder, unfiltered note that AWE describes as able to "get rowdy".

Do I need a tune with an AWE catback?

No. Both Touring and Track Edition systems are catback designs compatible with the factory ECU on FA20 and FA24 cars, so no tune is required.

Can I change from Touring to Track later?

Yes. The AWE Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit swaps the Touring rear sections for Track rear sections, and the Track-to-Touring Conversion Kit reverses that, without buying a complete new catback.
