Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII CT9A Performance Parts & Upgrades
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (CT9A) was built from 2003 and sold new in Australia from 2004 to 2005, and JDM imports in GSR, MR, GT-A and RS form are also common. It uses the 2.0L 4G63T turbo with all-wheel drive. Choosing the Right Part
- VIII or IX: the IX shares the body but has a MIVEC engine, so cams, cam gears and some engine parts differ. Aero is often listed for one or both.
- GSR, MR, GT-A or RS: the GT-A is automatic and the RS has a simpler driveline, so check diff and gearbox parts. Cusco and Wavetrac diffs list which models they suit.
- ECU: Link EVOLink ECUs are made for Evo VIII or VIII/IX looms; pick the one that matches your car.
Installation
Engine internals, fuel and ECU work should be done by an experienced engine builder or tuner. Have suspension and brake parts fitted by a qualified workshop, get a wheel alignment afterwards, and bleed and road-test the brakes after brake work.
