Which Blouch Turbo Suits Your Build?
Choosing the right Blouch turbo depends on your power goal, fuel type, and how you use the car. Here's how the range breaks down:
5356 G2R — 53mm turbine, G2 compressor, ~420bhp capacity. Quick spool, strong mid-range. A great step up from the factory VF turbo without sacrificing daily drivability. The entry point into the Blouch range.
5860 G2R — 58mm turbine, G2 compressor, ~480bhp capacity. Bridges the gap between the 5356 and Dominator 1.5. Fast spool with a broad powerband. Strong option for street/track builds on pump fuel.
DOM 1.5 XT-R — 56.5mm turbine, 49 lb/min XT-R compressor, ~480bhp capacity. The fastest-spooling Dominator. Uses a smaller turbine wheel than the 2.5 for dramatically improved mid-range response while trading a small amount of top-end. The go-to turbo for street/track WRX and STI builds that prioritise response over peak power. Available in 8cm and 10cm housings.
DOM 2.5 XT-R — 60mm turbine, 49 lb/min XT-R compressor, ~490bhp capacity. The original "Polka Pickle". Slightly more top-end than the 1.5 with a marginally slower spool. The sweet spot for builds targeting 350–400whp on pump fuel or 400–450whp on E85.

XT-R vs G2R — What's the Difference?
The XT-R series uses Blouch's proven billet compressor wheel with 49 lb/min airflow. The G2R series uses the latest-generation G2 compressor wheel with improved aerodynamics and 52–56 lb/min airflow. The G2R spools similarly to the XT-R but flows more air at the top end, giving you a higher power ceiling from the same turbine size. The G2R is the better choice for new builds; the XT-R remains an excellent turbo at a lower price point.
8cm vs 10cm Turbine Housing
Several Blouch turbos are available in both 8cm² and 10cm² turbine housing options. The 8cm housing builds boost faster and spools earlier — ideal for street cars, smaller displacement engines, and lower boost targets. The 10cm housing flows more exhaust gas at high RPM, reduces backpressure and exhaust gas temperature, and supports higher power levels — better for track cars, high-boost applications, and E85 builds. If you're running 20+ PSI or targeting 350whp+, the 10cm housing is usually the right call.
Supporting Mods You'll Need
A turbo upgrade on its own won't make power — you need supporting modifications to feed it and get the exhaust out. For any Blouch turbo upgrade, plan for:
• Fuel system: Larger injectors (ID1050x or ID1300x from Injector Dynamics), uprated fuel pump, and a Radium fuel pressure regulator or surge tank for E85 builds.
- Exhaust: A quality turbo-back exhaust system. KORSH Performance exhausts are designed specifically for Subaru platforms with mandrel-bent stainless steel and titanium options.
- Intercooler: A front-mount intercooler is recommended for DOM 2.5 and above. Essential for the 3.0 G2R.
- Tune: A professional ECU tune is mandatory. The turbo will not perform correctly on the factory map.
- Clutch: The factory clutch will not hold the increased torque. Budget for an uprated clutch and flywheel.
