Mahle Motorsport | Formula 1 Pedigree & Precision Engine Components

The global benchmark for internal engine strength and efficiency. At Chicane Australia, we provide specialised supply for Mahle Motorsport. With a history intertwined with the highest levels of professional racing, Mahle brings aerospace-grade metallurgy to the street and track. We facilitate fast sourcing and reliable delivery across Australia for their PowerPak piston kits and high-load Clevite engine bearings.

The Mahle PowerPak & Coating Technology

Mahle Motorsport distinguishes itself by offering a "unified" performance system. Every PowerPak kit features forged pistons made from either 4032 alloy (for tighter clearances and quiet operation) or 2618 alloy (for maximum detonation resistance). Their proprietary Grafal® skirt coating reduces friction and cylinder wall wear, while their Phosphate dry-film lubricant protects pin bores from galling. For extreme-duty builds, many kits also include hard-anodised top ring grooves to prevent micro-welding under high boost.

Our sourcing capabilities cover the flagship Mahle range:
PowerPak Piston Kits: Complete sets featuring forged pistons and low-drag rings for the Falcon (Barra), WRX/STI (EJ20/EJ25), and BRZ/GR86 (FA20/FA24).
PowerPak Plus: Specialized 2618 alloy kits with hard-anodised grooves for high-horsepower Supra (2JZ) and Skyline (RB25/RB26) builds.
Clevite Racing Bearings: Industry-leading tri-metal bearings designed to handle the extreme cylinder pressures of turbocharged European and JDM engines.
Porsche Specialist Kits: Elite piston and cylinder sets developed through Mahle's decades-long partnership with Porsche, essential for air-cooled and water-cooled restorations.

Based on the Central Coast, NSW, we provide the technical expertise to help you navigate the specific alloy choices and compression ratios required for your build. We work closely with our supply network to ensure your authentic Mahle hardware is sourced and despatched with professional care and speed.

Mahle Motorsport FAQ

Should I choose 4032 or 2618 alloy for my build?

4032 alloy has a higher silicon content, which means it expands less when hot. This allows for tighter piston-to-wall clearances and a quieter engine, making it ideal for high-performance street cars. 2618 alloy is more ductile and offers superior resistance to detonation in extreme racing environments, but requires wider clearances that can result in "piston slap" during cold starts.

What is the purpose of the Grafal coating?

Grafal® is a resin-based graphite skirt coating proprietary to Mahle. It is designed to reduce drag, friction, and scuffing on the cylinder walls. Unlike some aftermarket coatings, Grafal is designed to stay on the piston for its entire life, significantly reducing piston noise and improving longevity.

How quickly can you source Mahle products?

We utilise a robust international and local supply network to provide the fastest possible turnaround. Most Mahle PowerPak kits for popular Australian performance platforms are sourced and despatched within a short timeframe for delivery nationwide.
