Fitment depends on the model year, engine and chassis code, so check the chassis code rather than just the model name. Common examples in this range include:

Australian-delivered cars can differ from JDM or Euro-market equivalents in flange position, hanger points and sensor count, so confirm the exact variant.

Construction also matters. Look for:

• Mandrel-bent piping, which keeps a consistent bore through the bends.
• 304 or 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
• Titanium, such as Tomei's EXPREME Ti range, where weight saving matters.

Pipe diameter is listed in each product title or specification, in inches or millimetres. Match it to your engine's actual output rather than choosing the biggest bore, because oversized pipe on a stock turbo car can hurt low-rpm response. Resonated systems are usually quieter in the cabin at cruise than straight-through, non-resonated designs.

Axle-back and cat-back systems are generally the simpler swaps. Headers, downpipes and turbo-back systems are more involved and often need the car properly raised. Turbocharged engines usually need a tune after these upgrades.

Factory hardware is often seized or stretched, so installers typically replace the gaskets, studs and nuts on any flange they open. You'll find these in Exhaust Accessories.

Noise and emissions rules differ by state and apply to road-registered cars.

Will an exhaust upgrade need a tune? A cat-back or axle-back usually doesn't. Headers, downpipes, turbo-back systems and de-cat pipes generally do, especially on turbocharged cars.

Are de-cat pipes road legal? No. Catless and de-cat pipes listed here are for race and motorsport use only.

How do I avoid drone on the highway? Choose a resonated system or one that retains a factory-style mid muffler. Non-resonated straight-through designs are louder in the cabin at cruise.
