HKS S-Type Oil Cooler Kit – Toyota GR86 (2021+ FA24)

The HKS Oil Cooler Kit for the GR86 ZN8 and Subaru BRZ ZD8 is designed to control oil temperatures during sustained high-load driving. On track, these vehicles commonly exceed 130°C oil temperature. This kit stabilises temperatures, protects the engine, and allows continuous lapping for both NA and boosted setups.

Product Overview

The kit mounts a 12-row oil cooler core inside the front bumper, ahead of the left wheel, without affecting the stock bumper louvers. A billet aluminium oil attachment with an integrated thermostat prevents over-cooling and keeps oil viscosity stable. This setup ensures proper cooling on track while maintaining safe temperatures during normal driving.

The design supports stock engines, NA tuning, GT2 turbo upgrades, and future bolt-on supercharger kits. For vehicles using front-mounted intercoolers, the kit cools oil independently without disturbing radiator performance. A replacement aluminium washer tank is included for proper clearance and ease of refilling.

Performance Test Notes

HKS testing shows that the GR86/BRZ platform struggles with high oil temperatures on the Fuji Speedway Short Course. With the HKS kit installed, temperatures remained stable and allowed continuous laps—even on forced-induction setups—without exceeding critical limits.

Installation Notes

• Washer tank must be replaced with the aluminium tank included in the kit
• Designed for perfect clearance around AC piping and the stock water-cooled oil cooler
