HKS DCT Fluid Trans Cooler Kit – Nissan GT-R R35 (Version 0)

The HKS DCT Cooler Kit for the 2007–2010 Nissan GT-R R35 is designed to stabilise GR6 dual-clutch transmission temperatures during hard street and circuit use. The factory water-cooled system struggles under high load, causing the oil to heat quickly and affecting shift quality and clutch protection. This kit improves cooling efficiency, protects the transmission, and maintains consistent performance.

Product Overview

The cooler core mounts in the front left fender, where it receives strong airflow through a dedicated FRP air duct. The system uses larger -10 oil lines for improved volume and reduced restriction. The HKS kit integrates with the factory heat exchanger and includes a dedicated thermostat to reduce warm-up time and stabilise oil temperatures faster after cold starts.

By reducing transmission oil temperature, the kit helps maintain firm, predictable shifts, prevents clutch overheating, and extends the life of the DCT fluid. The design also lowers engine coolant temperature slightly by assisting the factory cooling loop.

Performance Testing

HKS in-house testing at Fuji Speedway recorded:

• Water temperature reduction of approx. −5°C
• Stable continuous-lap DCT oil temperature of approx. 127°C

GR6 Transmission Notes

• Factory system is water-cooled
• Failsafe activates at approximately 140–145°C
• Nissan recommends replacing engine oil if DCT oil exceeds 140°C
• If 4WD clutch temperature rises, the system may switch to 2WD mode
