Why DSS
DSS built its name on drag radial and no-prep drag racing, where snapped axles are a common failure point. That same engineering carries over to WRX/STI and BRZ/86 owners running upgraded turbos or built engines on the street and at the track. We recommend DSS when the factory or standard aftermarket axle is the weak link in the drivetrain, not before. Direct-fit axles suit most street and strip builds; Level 5 axles step up the torsional strength for higher horsepower and repeated hard launches, so which one you need comes down to your power level rather than just what you can afford.
Fitment & Installation
Most DSS direct-fit axles bolt in using factory-style hubs and CV joints, so a competent workshop can fit them with standard tools. On WRX/STI platforms, check your ABS tone ring setup before ordering: some model years use a tone ring pressed onto the axle itself, and mixing an incorrect part number can throw ABS or traction control faults even though the axle physically fits. Manual and auto STI/WRX also run different spline counts on the transmission side, so a manual-spec axle will not bolt to an auto box. Always confirm the exact model year and drivetrain (manual vs auto) before ordering, as DSS part numbers are application-specific. Custom kits for engine or differential swaps need extra detail on your combination, ideally photos or measurements of the current setup, so we can confirm the right part with DSS before it ships.

What are the benefits of a carbon fibre driveshaft?
A carbon fibre shaft is lighter than the equivalent steel item, which reduces rotational mass. Carbon fibre also has some natural flex under load, which can help absorb shock during hard launches compared to a rigid steel shaft.
Can I run DSS axles on a daily driver?
Yes. DSS direct-fit axles are designed to bolt into the factory hubs and maintain normal drivability. You don't need a full drag setup to justify running them, plenty of our customers fit them simply because the factory axles can't handle their power level.
