Carrillo Connecting Rods | The Choice Connection
The world's most trusted connecting rod for elite-level motorsport. At Chicane Australia, we provide specialised supply for Carrillo Connecting Rods. Manufactured in the USA from their proprietary Carrilloy steel, these rods are engineered to survive the most abusive forces in a racing engine. We facilitate fast sourcing and reliable delivery across Australia for the entire Carrillo range, from street-performance H-Beams to professional-grade Drag Pro units.
Proprietary Metallurgy & Beam Configurations
Carrillo rods are not "one size fits all" forgings. Every rod is designed with specific engine architecture in mind, utilising a custom chrome-nickel-moly-vanadium alloy that meets strict vacuum arc re-melt standards. This results in a rod with an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 195,000 psi, maintaining the ductility needed to absorb shock loads that would shatter lesser components. Every set is 100% Magnaflux inspected and balanced to within +/- 1 gram before leaving the facility.
Our sourcing capabilities cover the flagship Carrillo configurations:
• Pro-H Beam: The stoutest straight H-beam design available, ideal for high-boost Toyota 2JZ and Nissan RB26 builds where maximum rigidity is required.
• I-Beam (Drag Pro): Engineered for extreme-horsepower applications (3000hp+), providing superior compression strength for Ford Barra and high-power V8 builds.
• A-Beam & Super A-Beam: Lightweight designs for high-revving naturally aspirated engines where reducing reciprocating mass is the priority.
• Bullet Series: Premium shelf-stock rods that offer Carrillo quality and 3/8" WMC bolts at a more accessible price point for popular performance platforms.
Based on the Central Coast, NSW, we assist engine builders in selecting the correct bolt upgrade and beam style for their specific power targets. We work closely with our supply network to ensure your Carrillo hardware is sourced and despatched with professional care and speed.
Carrillo Rods FAQ
What is the difference between WMC and CARR rod bolts?
WMC Fasteners are high-quality H11 tool steel bolts (220k psi UTS) suitable for most performance builds and are good for approximately 15-18 torque cycles. CARR Fasteners are made from a proprietary Multiphase alloy (285k psi UTS). They are practically indestructible and can be reused indefinitely if the stretch method is followed, making them essential for 1000hp+ builds or engines revving over 8500rpm.
Do I need H-Beam or I-Beam rods for my turbo build?
Generally, H-Beam rods are the "all-rounders" for turbo builds up to 1000hp, offering great weight-to-strength ratios. For extreme builds exceeding 1000hp—particularly in heavy-hitters like the Ford Barra—the I-Beam (Drag Pro) is often preferred for its superior ability to handle massive compression loads without bowing.
How quickly can you supply Carrillo rods in Australia?
We utilise a robust international and local supply network to provide the fastest possible lead times. Most Carrillo Bullet Series and popular Pro-H kits are sourced and despatched within a short timeframe for delivery across Australia.
