The goal when developing the Process West Top Mount Intercooler was simple: to create the best-performing aftermarket TMIC available for Subaru WRX and STI platforms — without compromise.

After evaluating competitor offerings, it became clear that most suffer from one major flaw: lack of proper ducting or shrouding. A larger intercooler is only effective if it receives proper airflow. Using the factory bonnet splitter on a significantly larger core results in poor coverage, leaving large portions of the intercooler exposed to minimal ambient air — and ultimately reducing performance.

Process West solves this problem by including a properly sized bonnet splitter designed to work in harmony with the larger intercooler core. This ensures 100% of the core receives direct airflow through the scoop — significantly improving cooling efficiency under real-world driving conditions.

As demonstrated during development on a Forester XT, using the factory splitter leaves nearly half the upgraded core uncovered. With the Process West solution, the entire surface is properly utilised, maximising cooling and engine performance.

This engineering-led approach to design is what separates Process West from the rest — making this kit the most complete and effective top mount intercooler upgrade on the market.
