Why Upgrade Your Brake Rotors
A worn, cracked or unevenly deposited rotor won't work properly no matter how good the pads are. Slotted discs suit daily driving and light track use: the slots clear gas and pad dust without shredding pads. Drilled discs give a crisp initial bite and look sharp, but on heavier cars doing long, hard sessions they are more prone to cracking around the holes. Plain discs are quiet, cheap to replace and perfectly good for a stock-power street car. A 2-piece rotor is the step up for serious track work, since the alloy bell cuts weight and lets the iron ring expand with heat instead of fighting the hat.
One honest trade-off worth knowing: most "warped rotor" shudder is actually uneven pad material transfer, not a bent disc. A fresh rotor with a poorly bedded pad will do the same thing again.
Fitment & Installation
Check rotor diameter, thickness and bell offset against your model, year and caliper setup before ordering, especially if a big brake kit or aftermarket calipers are already on the car. Some AU-delivered variants run different rotor sizes to what overseas fitment guides list, and Brembo-equipped trims (WRX STI, Evo, Civic Type R) differ from base cars on the same chassis. Rotors should be replaced in axle pairs and bedded in with new pads following the pad manufacturer's procedure. Most jobs also want fresh brake fluid and a check of pad hardware and slide pins. Chicane is an online retailer and does not offer fitting, so installation is through your own mechanic or brake specialist.

Do I need new rotors every time I change pads?
No. If the rotors are above minimum thickness, free of cracks and have an even surface, they can usually run with new pads. Mixing a new pad compound onto an old disc with heavy material transfer is the common cause of shudder afterwards.
Slotted or drilled for street use?
Slotted is the safer all-round pick for daily driving and the odd track day. Drilled suits lighter cars and lighter use.
Will these fit an AU-delivered car?
Most listings are AU-spec correct, but trim-specific sizing is common, particularly on Brembo-optioned models. Confirm your caliper type and current rotor diameter with us if you're unsure.
Is there a warranty on brake rotors?
Manufacturer warranty covers manufacturing defects. Normal wear, heat damage and problems from poor bedding-in are not covered.
