Air Filters

Performance Air Filters

Air Filters are the cheapest part of your intake to get right and the easiest one to get wrong. This range covers drop-in panel filters, pod and cone filters, and replacement elements for aftermarket intake kits, so you can keep airflow up without letting dust into the engine. We stock filter brands with a proven reputation for filtration and build quality, including TOMEI, because a filter that flows well but seals poorly is a false economy on a turbo car driven anywhere near Sydney traffic or a track day at The Bend.

Filters here suit common Japanese and European performance platforms, including Subaru WRX and STI, Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ, GR Yaris and GR Corolla, Nissan Silvia and Skyline, Mitsubishi Evo, Honda Civic Type R, Toyota Supra, and VW Golf GTI and R. Panel filter sizing is vehicle specific, so check the listed application before ordering. [VERIFY: confirm current vehicle coverage across the 22 products in this collection]

Why Air Filters matter

Filter choice is a trade-off. Oiled cotton and foam elements usually flow more and can be cleaned and reused, but they need the right amount of oil to filter properly. Dry synthetic elements are lower maintenance and forgiving of over-servicing. On a stock or lightly modified car, a good panel filter is about airflow consistency and reuse rather than power. On a bigger turbo build with a full intake, the filter needs to be sized to the piping and airflow, not just fitted because it looks the part. We choose to carry brands that publish real filtration and flow data instead of generic no-name elements.

Fitment & Installation

Panel filters are typically a five-minute job: unclip the airbox lid, swap the element, check it seats flat all the way around. Pod filters need a correctly sized inlet neck and a secure clamp, and cars with a MAF sensor can react to a change in filter position or airflow characteristics, so a check of fuel trims or a retune may be sensible after a major intake change. Reusable elements need a matching cleaner and oil kit; installers generally recommend letting an oiled filter dry fully before refitting. Always confirm your year, trim and whether the car is AU-delivered right-hand drive before ordering, as airbox shapes differ between markets.

FAQ

Will a performance air filter add power?
On a standard airbox, gains are small at best. The real benefits are consistent airflow, better filtration than a tired paper element, and a reusable part. Meaningful gains come from a full intake and tune.

Oiled or dry filter?
Oiled cotton and foam generally flow a little more and clean up well. Dry synthetic is easier to live with and harder to over-service. Dusty rural driving usually favours the finer filtration of a well-oiled element.

How often should I clean a reusable filter?
Follow the manufacturer's interval for the filter you buy. Most owners inspect at each oil change and clean when the element looks loaded.

Does this fit my year and trim?
Panel filters are dimension specific and pod filters are sized by inlet diameter. Check the fitment notes on the product page, and confirm your build year and model if your car is an AU-delivered variant.

Do you ship Australia wide?
