Intake fitment is specific to chassis and engine, so confirm your chassis code before ordering. For example, Subaru WRX intakes are listed separately for GC8, GD, GE/GH/GR/GV, VA and VB/VN models. Honda Civic Type R intakes are split between FK8 and FL5. Hyundai i30 N intakes differ between PD, PDe and CN7 models. Audi RS3 intakes differ between the 8V and 8Y. BMW intakes are listed by engine, including B58, S55 and S58.

Check sizing as well. Some kits are listed by MAF housing or pipe diameter, such as 72 mm or 4 inch, and some ranges offer a standard and a big bore version. Kits that change the MAF housing diameter will affect fuelling calibration.

Consider the design too. Sealed or covered airbox designs keep intake temperatures closer to ambient, which makes them the safer pick for hot Australian summers and track days. Open element intakes draw warmer engine bay air and can be louder than some owners expect.

AU-delivered models can differ from overseas cars in MAF sensor type, airbox mounting and bonnet clearance. Fitment notes on each product page take priority. Cars with an aftermarket blow off valve, diverter valve or non-standard turbo may need a specific recirculation port or adapter.

Most intakes are bolt-on kits that use basic hand tools. The factory MAF sensor is commonly reused or transferred to the new housing. Some kits require the crankcase breather and boost reference lines to be re-routed.

Cars running a MAF-based tune, particularly Subaru and Volkswagen/Audi platforms, should be re-tuned or at least re-scaled after an intake change to keep fuelling correct. Some intake pipes are sold without a filter, so check the product description and add a matching filter if needed. Keep the original airbox for resale or roadworthy purposes. Installation by a professional is recommended.

Will an air intake add power on a stock car?
Gains on a standard engine are modest and mostly show up as sharper throttle response and more induction sound. On a tuned turbo car, intake flow becomes a real limit, so an intake matters more as the build progresses.

Do I need a tune after fitting one?
Many intakes are designed to work on the factory calibration. Cars with MAF-based tuning, or kits that change the MAF housing diameter, should be re-tuned for correct fuelling.

Cold air intake or short ram?
Sealed cold air designs run cooler intake temperatures and suit hot weather and track use. Short rams are simpler and louder, and they are generally easier to fit in tight engine bays.

Can I use my existing filter?
Some intake pipes are sold without a filter. Check the product description and add a matching filter from the air filters range if needed.
