Radium Engineering Fluid Lock catch cans trap oil mist and moisture from the crankcase ventilation system before it reaches the intake, so it can't coat the intercooler, throttle body or intake valves. Most kits are built for a specific car, with brackets, hose and fittings that use the factory mounting points and hose routing. Universal Competition Catch Cans and service parts are listed here too.
Shop by Product Type
Fluid Lock Catch Can Kits (PCV): one can on the PCV side, which sees manifold vacuum and boost.
Fluid Lock Catch Can Kits (CCV): one can on the crankcase vent line to the intake pipe.
Fluid Lock Dual and Triple Catch Can Kits: cans on both the PCV and CCV sides for boosted and track cars.
Universal Competition Catch Can: for custom builds, with brackets sold separately.
Service parts: mounting brackets, petcock drain kits and O-ring service kits.
Choosing the Right Part
Pick the kit listed for your chassis code, for example Nissan Silvia (S15), Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32), Toyota Chaser (JZX100), Subaru WRX (VA), Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (CZ4A) or Honda Civic Type R (FK8/FL5). The brackets and hose lengths are made for that car.
Choose single PCV, single CCV or dual by where your oil is getting in. Boosted engines usually push oil through both paths, so a dual kit catches the most.
A few kits are made for left-hand-drive cars only and say so in the title. Australian-delivered cars are right-hand drive, so check the listing note.
Installation & What You'll Need
Most kits bolt in with the supplied brackets and hardware and plug into the factory ventilation hoses. Leave room under the bonnet to drain the can, and check it regularly when you first fit it, as some engines fill a can quickly on track. Installation by a professional is recommended.
FAQ
What is the difference between a PCV and a CCV catch can?
The PCV side runs from the crankcase to the intake manifold and sees vacuum and boost. The CCV side vents the crankcase to the intake pipe before the turbo or throttle. Radium sells kits for either side, or dual kits that cover both.
Will a catch can stop oil getting into my intercooler?
It catches most of the oil mist in the ventilation system before it reaches the intake, which is where intercooler oil usually comes from. How much it catches depends on the engine and how hard it is driven.
Do I need to drain a catch can?
Yes. Fluid Lock cans collect oil and moisture in a reservoir that you drain by hand. Check it at every service, and more often on a track car.
