Choosing the Right Part
- Engine code: Springs and retainers are listed by engine. Examples include EJ20, EJ25 and EJ257, FA20, FA24D, 2JZ-GTE and 2JZ-GE (including VVTi), 3S-GTE, 4G63 and 4G63T, RB26DETT, VR38DETT, VK56, TB48DE, B58, S58, Honda B-Series VTEC and the Audi/Lamborghini 5.2L V10.
- Spring style: Retainers are specific to the spring design: single, dual, beehive, cylindrical or conical. Choose the retainer listed for your spring. Some are matched to a particular kit, such as the GSC5756 kit with the TVS1850 spring, or the GSC5056 kit for the FA20.
- Bucket type: 3S-GTE kits come in shim-under and shimless/shim-over bucket versions. Confirm which your head uses.
- Intake or exhaust: Some engines, such as the B58 and S58, have separate intake and exhaust retainer sets.
