Cometic MLS Head Gasket (Single) – Subaru EJ255 / EJ257 (2007–2018) – 101mm Bore

The Cometic MLS Head Gasket is a multi-layer stainless steel replacement for the factory head gasket on the Subaru EJ255 Version 2 and the 2007–2018 EJ257, the turbo 2.5L engines in the WRX, WRX STI and Forester XT of that era. It has a 101mm round bore and comes in a choice of compressed thicknesses, so you can match the stock deck height or set the compression ratio on a rebuilt engine.

Cometic's MLS (multi-layer steel) gasket is built from embossed stainless steel layers, with high-temperature coated outer layers that seal against the head and block. Because the overall thickness comes from the centre layer, Cometic can offer many thicknesses, which makes MLS the go-to for setting compression ratio or squish on a built engine.

Options

Compressed thickness: 0.76mm (.030"), 1.02mm (.040"), 1.14mm (.045"), 1.52mm (.060"). Thicker gaskets lower compression; match the thickness to your engine builder's spec.

Note: Sold individually – an EJ engine needs two, one for each head. Cometic lists a different gasket (C14181) for 2018–2021 EJ257 engines, and C4622 for EJ253/EJ255 with the improved-cooling heads. Installation by a professional is recommended.
