Why upgrade to a Big Brake Kit

Factory brakes are sized for road use, not repeated hard stops from high speed. Add power, sticky tyres or track time and the standard rotors soak up heat faster than they can shed it, which is when the pedal goes long and soft.

A BBK addresses both halves of the problem. The larger rotor carries more thermal mass and vents heat better, while a forged or billet multi-piston caliper flexes less under pressure, so pedal travel stays consistent. Two-piece rotors with an alloy hat also cut unsprung and rotating weight compared to a bigger one-piece disc. Kits with replaceable rotor rings are worth a look for cars that see regular track use, since only the friction ring gets replaced.

Fitment & Installation

Big Brake Kits are wheel sensitive. Every kit has a minimum wheel diameter, and offset and spoke profile matter just as much as the size stamped on the barrel. Check the listing's clearance requirements before ordering, particularly on aftermarket wheels. Some kits need longer studs or a small spacer to clear the caliper body.

Front kits generally bolt to the factory upright with supplied brackets. Rear kits vary: many retain the standard handbrake, others use a separate park brake shoe, so read the individual listing. Installers will usually want fresh high-temp brake fluid, a full bleed, and a proper bed-in before any hard driving. AU-delivered variants occasionally differ from JDM or Euro spec in hub and caliper mounting, so confirm your build code if you're unsure.

Will a Big Brake Kit fit my wheels?
It comes down to rotor diameter, caliper width and wheel offset. Check the minimum wheel size on the listing, or send us your wheel specs and we'll confirm clearance before you buy.

Do I need new brake lines with a BBK?
Some kits include lines, others use the factory-length line. If the car is lowered or the caliper position changes, a braided set from our brake lines range is worth adding.

Can I still use the handbrake with a rear BBK?
Most rear kits keep the factory handbrake mechanism, but this varies by design. The individual product listing states how park brake is handled.

What's included in a kit?
Typically calipers, rotors, mounting brackets, pads and hardware. Fluid and lines are often separate, so check the inclusions list on the product page.
