Polyurethane is harder wearing than rubber and resists the oil, heat and age-related softening that lets factory bushings sag over time. That firmness reduces unwanted suspension movement, which sharpens steering feel and keeps alignment settings more consistent under hard cornering or repeated track use. The trade-off is a firmer ride and, on some vehicles, slightly more noise transmitted through the chassis. We choose brands with a track record for consistent durometer and accurate OE dimensions, so the fitment issues and squeaks associated with cheap generic poly bushings aren't a factor.

Bushing replacement usually means removing the control arm, sway bar or subframe component, pressing out the old bushing and pressing in the new one, then torquing everything back to spec with the suspension loaded (ride height set) rather than hanging free. Most installers use a hydraulic press or a suitable bushing removal/install tool kit rather than a hammer and socket, especially on tighter factory bores.
