The next generation of Cartek Battery Isolator is here. The Cartek Battery Isolator X-Pro is designed for all race and rally car applications, capable of handling high cranking currents for large capacity and highly tuned race engines including V8s. Featuring an adjustable current limit for the Engine Stop output signal and a 4-pin sealed DT connector for easy installation, the X-Pro delivers reliable safety performance in even the harshest motorsport environments.

How It Works

All Cartek Battery Isolators perform two functions in accordance with FIA motorsport safety regulations. The Engine Stop function disconnects power to the ECU or ignition circuit, forcing the engine to stop and ceasing electrical power generation by the alternator. The Battery Isolation function disconnects the negative side of the battery from the chassis, isolating the battery from all electrical systems. When activated, Engine Stop occurs a very short period before Battery Isolation. Alternator load dump protection is built in, so no additional components are required.

Operation

The system is operated using two switches: a dashboard-mounted Internal Switch allows the driver to turn the isolator on and off, while an External Switch is mounted for operation by safety personnel in an emergency. The External Switch can only turn the isolator off, in accordance with Motorsport UK safety regulations. The system also shuts down automatically if a fault is detected, with the integrated RGB LED displaying a flash pattern to indicate the cause.
