Wavetrac Front Differential for Toyota GR Yaris / GR Corolla
Wavetrac Front and Rear Diff for GR Yaris / GR Corolla
Looking for the best diff for GR Yaris or GR Corolla? We run Wavetrac front and rear differentials in our own GXPA16/GZEA14 project cars, and they're the first upgrade we recommend once you've sorted tyres and alignment. The GR platform's AWD system relies on both diffs working together to put power down. The factory front diff is an open unit with no factory LSD option, and it's the weak link when you start pushing corner exit throttle on track or loose surfaces. In our experience the biggest gain from a front Wavetrac is reduced inside-wheel spin on corner exit, particularly on damp or bumpy roads where the factory diff just lets the inside tyre light up and scrubs off drive.

- Wavetrac Front Differential - Toyota GR Yaris / GR Corolla (GXPA16/GZEA14): does most of the work, since the front axle carries more load under corner exit throttle on this platform. This is where most owners start.
- Wavetrac Rear Differential - Toyota GR Yaris / GR Corolla (GXPA16/GZEA14): complements the front unit once you're doing serious track time or running the car hard on loose surfaces, helping the rear axle put down its share of torque without one wheel spinning up.
Why Wavetrac for GR Yaris / GR Corolla
The GR platform splits torque front to rear through its AWD system, but each axle still needs a differential that can bias torque across the wheels on that axle. An open diff sends power to whichever wheel has the least grip, which shows up as inside wheel spin on tight, bumpy Aussie backroads or when you're on the kerbs at The Bend. A Wavetrac ATB (automatic torque biasing) unit locks up progressively under load and unlocks smoothly on trailing throttle, so it doesn't fight you through slow, tight turns like some plate-type LSDs can. Compared against the factory setup, the difference is most obvious on damp roads and second-gear hairpins, where the GR Yaris and GR Corolla can otherwise spin an inside tyre and scrub off drive.
Fitment & Installation
These are direct fitment units for GXPA16 GR Yaris and GZEA14 GR Corolla, front and rear. We recommend fitting both together where the budget allows, since the AWD system splits torque and a single upgraded diff only solves half the equation. Installation requires the diff housing to be opened, so factor in gearbox or diff carrier removal, and use fresh gear oil and factory hardware on reassembly. This isn't a bolt-on weekend job for most home garages; we'd rather see it done properly by a driveline specialist first time.

FAQ
Does this fit both GR Yaris and GR Corolla? Yes, both share the GXPA16/GZEA14 driveline architecture and use the same Wavetrac units front and rear.
Do I need the front and rear diff, or just one? Front first is the priority for most road and track drivers, since it's doing more of the work on corner exit. Rear complements it for AWD platforms that see serious track time.
Will this affect daily driveability? No. Wavetrac's ATB design stays quiet and smooth at low load, so it drives normally around town.
Does Chicane ship Wavetrac differentials Australia-wide? Yes, we ship nationally.
Is there a warranty? Wavetrac backs these with a manufacturer warranty against defects; contact us for full terms.
